Mobile-first is a design and development philosophy that starts the design process with the smallest screen size (mobile) and then progressively enhances the experience for larger screens (tablet, desktop). It is the opposite of the traditional approach where desktop designs were scaled down to mobile. Mobile-first ensures the core experience is optimised for the majority of users — over 60% of web traffic now comes from mobile devices.
