White Space

Empty space between elements that improves readability and focus.

White space (also called negative space) refers to the empty areas between design elements on a web page — between paragraphs, around images, inside buttons, and between sections. Despite feeling counter-intuitive, generous white space improves readability (by reducing cognitive load), guides attention, and creates a sense of quality and professionalism. Sites with cramped layouts tend to feel overwhelming; well-spaced layouts feel premium.
